LIVOS OIL: THE MOST STAIN RESISTANT PRODUCTS!

LIVOS OIL: THE MOST STAIN RESISTANT PRODUCTS!

You're having a nice and joyful evening but now... too bad!, you just realized that your guest spilled his glass of wine on your beautiful oiled wooden counter. A little embarrassed, he was away and now tells you what he did... after 20 minutes. You wipe but it's done, the countertop is stained.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you just had to tell him: "Don’t worry!" And wipe the spilled wine and see a beautiful wood countertop with no stain left!

In this article you will discover how Livos products can guarantee you better stain resistance compared to the competition.

HOW TO PREVENT WOOD STAINING

When the wood surface is bare or when the oil finish is a less expensive product such as mineral oil, it may be more easily stained.

Although caution is required, there are some interesting things to explore before moving on to the painful stage of sanding. These tips needs to be redone every time, but you will keep a natural wood surface for a long time.

1 - WAX OR CANDLE STAIN

To remove the wax from a candle, you can first remove a maximum of wax with the back of a spreader. It will then be possible to remove residual greasy stain by sprinkling with baking soda and rubbing with a cloth. Last step, remove the baking soda with a damp cloth and dry quickly to avoid creating a water stain.

2 - GLUE STAIN

The glue can be easily removed with a cloth soaked in acetone. The problem lies in the risk of changing the colour of the wood and creating a second stain even more difficult to remove. It is suggested to rinse the acetone quickly with a damp cloth.

3 - INK OR PEN STAIN

Although this stain is difficult to remove, it is possible to help make it disappear with 70% alcohol or with lemon juice. Then, rinse and dry quickly with a dry cloth.

4 - OIL OR GREASE STAIN

Oil or grease stains are more or less difficult to remove depending on the depth of the stain. The stain can be covered with towel paper and take an iron to force the oil to absorb in the paper. As for the wax, remove the residual stain with baking soda a dry cloth, a subsequent rinse and a quick drying to complete the operation.

5 - MILDEW STAIN

The first step is to rub the mildew stain with water and soap. For more resistant stains, it will be possible to use a cloth soaked in ammonia or peroxide. However, expect to create a lighter area on your wood surface. To reduce this effect, rinse quickly and wipe up immediately with a dry cloth.

LIVOS PRODUCTS: THE MOST RESISTANT NATURAL OILS ON THE MARKET

There are still many other kinds of stains for which there is or there is no solutions. Sometimes it will not be possible to get rid of some stains other than by completely sanding the surface. To avoid managing these stains, Livos has developed a high quality oil that can withstand many types of stains.

To demonstrate its amazing ability to withstand multiple stains as a finishing oil, we turned to the independent firm FPInnovation.

WHAT IS FPINNOVATION?

FPInnovations is one of the largest private science research centres in the world. It is a centre supporting the global competitiveness of the Canadian forest sector and has more than 525 people including research labs located in Quebec, Montreal, Thunder Bay, Hinton and Vancouver and technology transfer offices across the country.

WHAT IS THE FPINNOVATION STAIN RESISTANCE TEST?

The FPInnovation lab tested several everyday products such as ketchup, permanent pencil, corn oil, and grape juice and applied them to pieces of oiled floor with Livos products and its competitor.

*Items marked "N/A" were not affected by the staining agent. Stains were apparent upon visual examination from a distance of 30 centimeters. Blotches were much less apparent. It was possible to observe them by dangling the sample strips in the light (by reflection).

These tests were done by FPInnovations. For more information, the complete report (#4906 ACM) is available on demand.
