- SURFACE PREP
- This step is essential to obtain optimal results. Sand the wood surface, progressively decreasing sandpaper grit coarseness from coarse to fine. With furniture, sand using successive grit coarseness down to 180-grit.
- WOOD OIL APPLICATION
- FIRST COAT
- Stir the product with a stirring stick to evenly mix the pigment and oil. Test the product on a small area to validate the colour before treating the entire surface. Apply a thin coat of oil using a rag, cloth, cotton staining-cloth or a stain applicator. Wait approximately 10 minutes before completely wiping down excess oil with a clean, dry cloth. Wait a minimum of 12 hours before applying a second coat.
- SECOND COAT
- Mix the product well with a stirring stick. Apply the wood oil at a rate of approximately 11 mL/m2 (about one tablespoon). Wait 10 minutes before completely wiping down excess oil with a clean, dry cloth or polish immediately (see Tips section). Wait a minimum of 24 hours before applying the third coat.
- THIRD COAT (AS NEEDED)
- Mix the product well with a stirring stick. Apply the wood oil at a rate of approximately 4 mL/m2 (about one teaspoon). Wait 10 minutes before completely wiping down excess oil with a clean, dry cloth or polish immediately (see Tips section).
- TIPS
- 1 – To achieve a satin finish, polish the wood surface instead of wiping with a cloth during the second and third oil applications. Apply drops of oil, respecting the quantities mentioned above, and polish immediately with a polisher or orbital sander. Use a non-abrasive grain buffer. Do not wipe the surface down afterwards.
- 2 – Light sanding with 800-grit sandpaper between the first and second coats can make the surface slightly smoother and more resistant.
